Autumn in the forest...

Chas and I both had the day off,
it was a perfect Indian Summer day.

Nature's hues were at the peak of perfection,
from bright yellow to vibrant red.

Wild mushrooms sprout from the mossy tree decay,
the fruit of fall foragers.

A wonderful way to spend an autumn day.

Deb & Family

I took these pictures of my friend Debbrynne and her very sweet children Iren, Tamia and Nevaeh in the park surrounding Franklin Park Conservatory.

They were taken at the end of a gorgeous summer day.  And, I just ♥ them!

Leah & Chloe...

One of my very best friends, Leah, and I had an agreement years ago that I could be her someday baby's aunt.  Being that I am an only child and would never have nieces and nephews of my own (unless through marriage) it was fitting that I should be her baby's "Aunt Jamie"!

So, when Leah & Chole came home for a visit from Memphis it was only fitting that I should take some photographs of my only niece.

Jorgensen Farm

The first Sunday of every month Jorgensen Farms is open to the public.

This summer I am experimenting with ice cream making, specifically Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream.  I went in search of 'Robert Mitchum Peppermint' the mint that is used in my favorite Jeni's flavor Backyard Mint.

I got two bundles of 'Robert Mitchum Peppermint', raw honey and basil infused red wine vinegar.  When I got home I put my fresh peppermint in a vase of water and put it in the refrigerator to use the following day.  Well, turns out, our refrigerator is too cold and my precious peppermint froze.  (tear)

But it was not a total bust, Jorgensen Farm is a beautiful organic farm and it made for a fun summer day outing!

duane michals...

I am so intrigued by Duane Michals artwork, even more by his philosophy on life and his unique style.  His refusal to be defined by a label or category.  I watched an interview with him on youtube just now and loved this remark because it is so true,

If there was some way that we could understand that being alive is simply not a matter of consuming things and using deodorants.  It really is a matter of being a walking, talking, once in a lifetime offer in the universe... it's never going to appear again.  All of those wonderful combinations that made me, that came together to produce this instance, will never happen again.  And, this is only thirty, sixty, seventy, eighty years which is nothing in time and we don't even see it, we are so dead.  And so somehow, beyond photography, maybe I use the photography some how to explain to myself, to remind me, that I am alive.

maylee...

Last week I spent the afternoon with my friend Tara and her adorable daughter Maylee. Maylee's 3rd Birthday is this month. We went to Jeni's for ice cream and balloons to celebrate!
